The reason I ask is I saw an ad on Craigslist where some guy was selling a 1997 J30 with a bad suspension, but said he had already bought a thousand dollars worth of new OEM shocks and struts and rubber parts but hadn't installed them yet (maybe he bought them from Joe, could he return them?). He wants to sell the parts to whoever buys the car, but I contacted him and he said he would sell the parts separately if the car buyer didn't want to buy them. Was wondering if a 97 J30 without HICAS and a 94 J30T with HICAS use the same exact shocks and struts? Also, is installing them something a do it yourselfer can do without having to buy any expensive special tools and without a lift? Or would it be better to pay a shop to do it,and if so what would be a typical labor charge if I supplied the parts?

HICAS editions had stiffer shocks and struts then regular J30 versions.
