Just out of curiousity... How many of you actually make a living with cars? (i.e. mechanics, car dealership, auto store, etc). Just wanted to get a thread that said what you do, how you got into the business, and how you like it. Thanks.

I'm 24, a Physics major and I knew nothing at all about cars until I picked up a FSM and started reading.......next thing you know, I'm pulling the motor, rebuilding the head and tweaking the suspension! Boom!

Very nice. When you did it were you just like "oh well, **** it, we'll see if i know what im doing" or were you confident in doing it. I get nervous installing a strut bar

I work with cars also. Fun way to spend one's day!!

There's really nothing better than to admire various Nissans that come in for work... day in, day out.... forever. Every day there is a new Nissan with a new problem, so it helps give the fanatic a really good overall perspective. AND you get paid to do this stuff. It's the goof of all time: They're paying me to do something I love. I'd do it for free anyways.. the experience is the paycheck, the $$ is a bonus.

240sxedUp,

The first time I did anything (dropping the front suspension sub-frame to change out the oil pan gasket), I was a little nervous. With the book and the right tools, it took a long time and I swore a lot!! Eventually I learned that whatever job I took (or take) on I have to triple the amount of time that I think it will take!!

I'm very leary about tearing into the motor internals so I will ask for help when the time comes. Aside from that, I just have to have faith that I can put everything back together and have it work!!!
