So I came across this ad on craigslist for a NA 1990 300zx for $800. The only thing wrong with it is that one of the cam shafts have locked on the driver side.. Heres the ad http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/ ... 84232.html

Just want to hear out on your guys opinion, i saw on z1motorsports a who set of used cam shafts is like 300-400 dollars. Thinking about fixing the cam then wrapping the car and sell it. Would love to hear your guys input out there.

Thanks !

If the cam is seized than the head is likely damaged, if the head is damaged you cannot machine it so that means new head. I'd say its worth it if the body and interior are mint, otherwise you'll end up breaking even if your lucky.

Not bad for NA, but like what Nolimit said you'll probably break even.

If you did buy it I could beat Z1's price on the cam shafts. :D

Seeing as motors and drivetrains are relatively inexpensive (900-1500) for a swap, I would do it but you'd better be ready to turn quite a few wrenches. If you don't do your own work do what others have said and part it out.

my experience:

I bought a 1990 2+2 NA speed for $950 and it runs and drives with 145k on it. Needs some rust repaired on rear quarters and a battery. To make a long story short, I've fixed her up quite a bit and fell in love. Your already a Z enthusiast, DON'T FALL IN LOVE WITH IT!
