Ok, so i currently own a 96 5 speed s14. I still owe my dad 3k on it, so no modding for a long time. Its bugging me and i hate debt. I was thinking. If i bought a mint s13 and sold my s14( to a nico member of course) I could hopefully come out even or better moneywise and mod the s13 and have an awesome car quicker than paying off my car then modding. So let me know what you guys think. My car is mint and has ~116,000 on it. It is not final yet and i would have to find my s13 first. So if any of you would be interested in my car or a trade + cash for your s13. So give me some feedback and i will make a decision.

Here are the most recent pics of my car:

yeah id say just keep it and pay your dad off...sadly the most you could get for your car would be 6k, and a decent s13 is around 3k, so youd end up with an s13 and no money to mod your car....

Keep it! Or, if anything, buy a Kouki. Don't go for older, less reliable, more mileage, just to be out of debt. Debt does suck, but it's always nice to have a mint S14

depends what kinda of s13 you can find... I bought mine for $2300, completely stock, with 103k miles on it.. everything in perfect condition, not a single thing wrong with it, and had 170-175 compression across the board... SE with sunroof, abs, vlsd, power everything, blah blah.. you can find some good deals out there... but really, take a look at that post with the guy wanting the trade, I would do that in a heartbeat... if I had an s14.. as far as I see it, s14's my look newer, not really better looking :P, they're heavier, inturn making them slower...stock that is. but I love my s13, I chose it over a lot of s14's just for that fact that it was cheaper, had less miles, and i'd have more money to mod it.

I like em all. I would say keep it, you have no idea what you will end up with. If you are trying to save some cash by selling a reliable car you may end up with something worse. I sold my maxima and now I'm kicking myself, I should have just stuck it out because the car was mechanically perfect when I sold it.

i understand modded S13 or Stock S14......been going back and forth for ages know but since you have one i would say Keep it unless you find a S13 that you just can't pass up that you can afford.

"Why the downgrade?" Typical S14 owner bullcrap. This concept of the S14 being some kind of "better" car is a load, so don't buy into it. Debt sucks a lot more that pop-ups, I promise you that.

Unless you have a Kouki, which you don't, there shouldn't be one thing about that S14 that makes you keep it. I guess it really depends on what you like more: debt or parts.

Here's where I'm coming from. A clean S14 isn't that rare. In fact, when a buddy of mine got one recently, I was surprised to see the paint on the hood and on the trunk lid peeling. You see that on an S13 and you wouldn't think twice about it. While I agree that S13s are OLD, I will say this: a clean S13 is a lot more impressive than a clean S14. There are TONS of S13s out there, but a lot of them are beat to hell, and, like has been stated, make old car noises. Get one that isn't beat. It's about as hard as finding a clean S14, and ALWAYS cheaper.

i went from from the same s14 you have to a s13. same color, se, all that good stuff. i found an excellent s13 1991 5 speed for $1200. i sold the s14 and got the s13. 2 months later i have an sr red top. if you find a good s13 you wont regret it.

IMO Keep it! I totally agree with the guys that say a clean S13 is more impressive than an S14. I myself love my Zenki but I am a total sucker for a clean S13 coupe with the Silvia front , but when u think about it how many clean S14's do you see in your area? I went to a SoCal Nissan Drift meet Bar-B-Q last year and there were more 13s than 14s but the 14s were mostly beat or had ghetto modifications done to them. I'm not saying that there aren't people out there that hook'em up right but a lot of peeps get S13s because they are easier and cheaper to mod! Keep the Zenki, be patient and keep us 14 owners on the map!

Ok, so here's the final decision:

I am 16 and a stock ka is all the power i need to start. So i will stick it out and pay my dad off and then by the time thats paid off, it will be time to mod, and i will be ready for more power. I am going to pay around ~100 a month, maybe more. I mean I have gotten to attached to my baby to give it up. And i am a 1 in a million sensible 16 year old driver and don't street race, tailgate, or think my car has to hit redline before i can shift, so it will be in the family and last for a while. And also i know i have a dependable car and giving it up would mean the risk of obtaining a non reliable s-13. So thanks for all the opinions and my s14 is staying with me! Zenki Love all the way!

glad your keeping the s14. you know what u can do, do little mods that your dad cant see like sway-bars, strut tower bars, an intake, little suspension things without actually lowering it. little things

that wouldn't work b/c my dad likes to help me work on my car. Its always been a thing we do together, so i help on the family cars and he helps with mine. And too my car won't go in my driveway if its any lower...... I will take a pic of my driveway once hurrican katrina stops this nice rain and wind deal. That was a good idea, but stock is good for me. The way i see it is if something breaks, buy the better aftermarket replacement....

i was saying not to lower it...well it sounds like your gonna have to rock a stock s14 for a while. it'll give u a chance to get a feel for it.

I meant to say he won't miss a strut tower bar when we go to work on it. But rocking a stock s14 is cool with me. I need a good feel, especially in the rain

S13's arent downgrades...but if i had an S14 i wouldnt get rid of it for another one just to pay my father....that seems senseless IMHO

just stick it out im sure youll be happier in the long run having the car you started with
