I have heard mixed replies to that. I honestly don't know for certain but I think if you nipped the wire a couple of inches from the ECU, you could easily re-attach it if you are having problems. which engine are you running?

Need, no. I ran around for a month or so with no speedometer signal...Somewhere during my engine swap I lost the speed sensor. I saw no codes from doing this and no problems...cept the lack of speedometer.Your speed/tachometer reads directly off of the speed sensor and there is another lead from the speedometer to the ecu. You could cut that to interrupt the signal getting to the ecu while keeping the speedometer function.

I have the 91 ka24det. I put it in a datsun 510 and don't plan to run a speedo. Well I'll find out soon enough.

ah, I ask because alot of people snip the wire at their ECU to remove the 115mph governer. For the S13 DOHC KA you can locate the wire in Fiznat's pinout diagram in the "good info read here first" thread good luck on the swap sounds like it'll be a beast.
