I know we've beaten the tire question to death on here...but I like the tread on the Goodyear's and Yokohama's the best.
Is there anything special you look for on a tire tread or do you choose by the manufacturer.

nbguy66 recommended Michelin X-Ice Xi2 for snow tires. Wicked tread pattern.

The only one I dislike is the Continental. I do have a slight problem with Conti's in general, but the pattern is also boring. For me it would be between the Kumho's and the Yokohama's

Pawprint,

What kind of tire are you looking for? You posted some all-seasons then a winter tire?

I'm looking for all seasons, but the title of my post is do you like any of these. I put the snow tire in there since a lot of people run snows in the winter in Canada and I thought the snow tread was odd as it only had 1 main groove in the middle. (But I'm not a tire expert)

IMHO, it is very difficult to tell the performance of a tire by simply looking at the tread. It's all speculation... unless of course you are tire engineer.

If you want to compare, go to tirerack.com and read some of the reviews.

I think pawprint is just wondering about the aesthetics of the tire tread, which one has the coolest tread design, not anything relating to functionality....I have to admit I've never thought about tires this way before but to each his own!

Now that you point it out, our Continentals do have a rather boring-looking tread design.....but if you're considering purchasing tires I strongly agree with Philip, reasearch the functionality of the tires from a reputable source like tirerack.com. For me, the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max look pretty good but would not be on my list because they are a "fair weather" touring tire, and I always run the risk of running into inclement weather so I'd lean more towards a Goodyear Assurance TriplTred....your situation may be completely different.

kerrton, you always have snow tires on your Rogue?

I do fine with all season. In all honesty, I'll probably go with the Yokohama's since they're in my price-range. I'm tempted by the Goodyear's that "claim" to save fuel, however I don't know if I trust that claim.

I do not run snow tires, although I know they are the best option for winter/snow/ice conditions. The Goodyear Assurance TripleTreds I mentioned are actually an all-season with good ratings on snow and ice, but I find Goodyear tires priced a little high, and they've got a lot of marketing behind them.

I'm going to be replacing my stock Continentals soon too, and I think I've settled on a set of Hankooks or Yokahama Avid...

That is probably true as Michelin also has this type of tires: You will get less grip from them since you want less resistance, and the ride could be a little bit stiffer, so they will be good if you have a set of snow tires for winter as they won't probably not be good enough to go through winters like we have here up north.

The other thing is that usually this type of eco-energy tires are for sedans not CUVs, so I am not sure they exist in the size we need. Too bad, that would have been a nice choice for me.

Last time I rode in a vehicle with TripleTreds, I was immediately turned off. Not sure if it was more the vehicle (Dodge Caliber) or the tire, but the tire noise was unbelievable! I hope the noise isn't typical of this tire...

I bought the Yokohama YK520's today! I love them so far.

They bagged up my Continentals (with 8,500 miles on them) and I brought them home to store in the basement. Who knows if I'll use them again, but I didn't want to throw them out, maybe I'll sell them.

Don't wait too long before using or selling them: After 5 to 7 years, the softness of the tires is lost (it is called vulcanization), and basically, tires are then non flexible hard plastic: poor ride, no grip, increase chance of cracking.

My favorite tread pattern:

Hoosier R6 DOT approved race tires

We used to call them 'cheater' tires. Expensive, but they were the fastest tires you could buy. Easily worth a second or two on the track vs. other 'competition' tires.

Wait a minute, we're talking about tires for the Rogue... Yeah, these would be totally inappropriate!!! ;)
