do you hear your turbo spinning

i got my ka-t started today and i could actually hear the whine comming from the turbo at idle while i was inside the car. is that normal. its a small t3 turbo.

Well it depends how high your idle is, but hell yeah! Its a pretty sweet sound, isnt it? I can hear it just a LITTLE bit when my car is on high idle, and obviously while driving, but once I drop down to warm revs (around 700) the whine is pretty quiet if there at all.

yeah it's normal. my brothers sr with the t28 keeps spinning long after he shuts the car off (ball bearing)... you can sit there for like half a minute and listen to it wind down. my little t3 does the same thing. i unplugged the mafs and took off the intake pipes up to the turbo and watched it spin the other day.... that thing was spinning like crazy!!! when i first put the turbo on (before it was broken in) it didn't spin like that at all but now it spins so easily. i can't hear mine very much at idle over the exhaust, but as soon as i give it throttle i can hear it.

Its fun to drive around and listen to the little whooshing sounds it makes!

I did not know mine made noise for a long time, I always have my music on and the stupid exhaust is so loud. :/
