do you have to flash the ecu to run a 300zx maf

i have an s13 redtop ran perfect took the maf out to let my brother use it, Put it back on my car and now its in limp mode, wont go over 2500rpms i had a safc on it and took it off thinking maybe it took a dump. i made sure to reconnect the split wires at the ecu but still no luck.

symptoms are:

when MAF is connected it is extremely rich and dies almost immediately wont rev past 2500rpms

if i unplug it it will run but not over 2500rpmssometimes i get 12 code but that may be from unplugging the sensorand i always have a 55 code on ecu

I would say bad sensor but the sensor works fine when i put it on his car...

I also checked with a tester to make sure the wires arent broken anywhere but they arent

The cheapest route is something like an ApexI SAFC, or HKS AFR.

I have a z32 MAF. im sure there is a thread on this but i have been searching and searching and not found two answers that are the same. does anyone know the settings for the SAFC I. I dont need any fuel settings i just would like to know the sensor type and in and out settings. i have no clue what to set them on. I cant find anything that tells me all the settings such as Car type, i think it should be on 4 but i dont know, because i have seen a couple threads that say 6, and how about the throttle setting (should the arrow be up or down???) also what should the sensor type be set to (hard wire, pressure, flap, karman???) i cant figur this crap out and i have been searching for 2 days!!! with the sensor type there is in and out numbers i have a z32 mafs so i think it should be set to 2in / 6out??? but which sensor?thanks for the help!!!

2 in 6 out, hot wire.

Its been covered here hundreds of times and if you dont know, download the manual for the SAFC, its free. Just use the SAFC2 info they are pretty much the exact same.
