Whats up guys? Well, as most of you know I was having an overheating problem with my car. Turns out it was the fans that I had on my car sucked. I have since bought a new 15 inch fan from Proform w/ built in shroud (2800cfm) and like it so far. Keeps my car cool. Anyways I want to put in A/C before next summer, this Texas heat sucks. The thing is that I have a Front Mount and no condenser sitting in front of the radiator and with the old fans it got hot.Dont know if that matters or not. Do you guys think that I will have a problem with overheating with the condenser in front the radiator and the fan that I have now. Like I said, the car doesnt get hot now that I put the new fan in but I'm worried it will with the condenser in the way blocking more airflow. What do you guys think? What kind of setup are you guys with A/C running? Thanks Guys.

I run A/C, Phase 2 makes custom A/C lines when you swap in a S14 -> S14. Its nice and it runs perfect, no leaks...Hey it gets hot in Cali, and when I have the lady in the car, she appreciates it too...

I have a/c in my s14 with s14 swap running 2 10inch flex a lite fans with a koyo rad. I'm still running a smic though. I'm tempted to go front mount but worry about the overheating and diminished a/c cooling effect a front mount will have. The florida heat is brutal.

if you have an S13. try to land an 89-90 condensor. They had an auxillary fan mounted on front of the condensor. The 91+ models used a one speed (or 2 speed if it was an S14) auxilary fan placed in the fan shroud behind the radiator.

I have no A/C in my car. It was never equipped, and I never plan on installing it since I have no need for it.

Chicago summers can get very sticky, but I've never really used A/C so, I just had them remove it.

I have a stock sidemount with a 14" permacool fan and stock radiator on my s13. Living all the way in ohio, in the summer time if i ran my car through stop and go situations with a/c on, my car wont like it. and it wont hold boost until the a/c is off. I plan on taking it off

I too have an S14->S14 SR swap. I have A/C. It's a must here in Florida! I run two 12" inch fans (FAL 220) and I don't overheat. I did experience a rise in temp. the other day with the A/C on, but that's probably because I didn't purge all of the air out of my coolant system when I did a flush. That's my fault though, the car ran plenty cool before, and it will run cool afterwards.

can anyone attest to the 89-90 condenser with a pusher fan in front of it??i have a/c on an s13 SR in an s13 chassis, and a greddy front mount with a koyo alum. rad. and when i turn the a/c on if i go into alot of stop and go traffic, the temps will start to rise on me. i was thinking of getting some kind of a pusher fan, but if the 89-90 condenser has one on it, i might give that a shot! is it compatible with the 91+ DOHC s/c system?

The Sohc do infact have a pusher fan on the front of the condensor. You shouldn't need the whole assembly though. As for compatablity, i am unsure. you could just always wire it to a switch and just turn it on when you are not moving.

This might also work on FMIC setups to keep the airflow moving through everything, any opinions?

Ive seen pictures of S13's in japan who used small condensers in the fender where the sidemount would be. Reason being that if you want AC and a V-mount intercooler setup it is basically the only way.

Not offering a solution, just a cool idea

Who needs it? If you live in FL or TX or GA or some other state where its about 90+ over half of the year then you need it. No A/C in Central/South Florida is just plain stupid. No way would I give up A/C to go fast. I gotta have them both.

Oh and its not just the heat, but the humidity. Right now, its 7:45am 79 degrees and 89% humidity.

Thanks guys for all the reply's. I agree with creophus, I NEED A/C and my girlfriend would appreciate it. Thanks for the info Tenkawa, I will try and land one of those. And J-spec thats a pretty cool idea. I am going to be using the KA compressor but I forgot which braket to use. Oh and it is extremely humid here.Bleh.

Oh and did I mention my car has the factory leather? It's not high quality leather but it is BLACK! Yet another reason A/C is crucial.

brought back from the dead. wow!

to answer 912's question about the bracket. If you have a 91-94 240, the KA condensor will bolt up to the SR bracket, save one bolt.

an 89-90 requires some finessing and a redrilled KA bracket.

Yeah I have a 91. I went to the junkyard and picked up a 91 condenser and a 89-90 fan but I dont think I'm going to use the fan since I have another one that might work better. The fan for the 89-90 is not attached to the condenser, just to the car. I think I might also use the DOHC KA compressor with the SR bracket. I just have to find the bracket. I have all of the stock lines off of a 91 or 92, I will see if these will work. Thanks again guys.

I've got A/C.. But it leaks somewhere. So I've always got to refill it (R134 so it's no biggie). Also, it used to get really hot when it was 100+ out with the AC on. But then I added a 12in Hayden fan, it's fine now. I'm still running the stock clutch fan with no shroud too. The hayden kicks on at 180 and off at 160. Works great for suplemental. I'm eventually get a Koyo radiator but for now it all works fine. 3

Unlike other peps... my GF hates my ride... hahah... I have an SR with a Koyo radiator and A/C... no problems running the A/C in the SCal heat. I suggest you look into an Oil Cooler. They do wonders for your temp...
