I worked as a valet guy in downtown Chicago a few years ago, at a number of places. Some of the places I worked were very expensive high end clubs/restaurants, so naturally the cars people pulled up in were very nice. Beating on cars is a severe understatement when describing how my coworkers treated these cars. I have seen countless things that would just make you cringe! Purposely driving over massive pot holes/speed bumps, slamming on brakes, doing burnouts, over revving the engine, driving off road, learning how to drive manual trans on customers' car, putting auto trans into park/reverse while the car is moving... these are just some of the examples. Most of the damage done to the car is not noticeable right away, although there have been cases where the owners could not drive their car home that same night.
My advice is to never get your car valet. When I go out, if valet is the only option, I pay for the parking and park my own car. Under no circumstances do I let them sit in my car. I would recommend the same to everyone who values their car
edit: i fixed my typo. I'm very ashamed

I've never had a problem.
I've used many parking garages in Manhattan as well as valet parking at restaurants, weddings etc. I usually tip both on the way in & on the way out. I usually request that it be parked where the attendant can keep an eye on it & usually they comply. When you own an expensive vehicle take care of the parking attendants $$ and ask them to take good care of your vehicle. Keep in mind that they are poorly paid & depend on tips.
As much as we love our G's they are still depreciating pieces of metal.
