I am led to ask this question because of something that happened today.

I pulled the nozzle off the pump and put it in my gas tank when filling up today, and the jerk before me didn't take the time to empty the nozzle into their tank before hanging it up, so I got a fairly decent splash of gasoline onto my nice shiny paint.

So I started the pump up, got a paper towel, and wiped down the surface that was affected because I know gasoline isn't good for paint.

What I was surprised by was when I looked at the paper towel afterwards and saw a smidgen of blue on the towel!

Do we have clearcoat? Or do we need to scream at Nissan for cheaping out in this aspect? (Crap, both of my KIAS had clearcoat!!!!)

Could have just been the detergent additives in the gas...

All modern paints are clearcoated to my knowledge.

I really dont think that our cars do. thats why they ask if we want to purchase the 'finishing touch' service I recommend that you wax it on a regular basis. especially if your town has high pollution or "acid" rain. just my opinion I waxed my car the day I bought it. still nice and smooth.

I highly recommend a few coats of Zaino.

Read all about it.

+1

I use 3-5 coats of Zaino Z-2 Pro w/ZFX Accelerator with Z-6 inbetween each coat after a machine polish.

Cheers,Kermee

The "Touch of Class" as my finance guy put it covers interior and exterior protection. I got it mainly for the interior protection. If you get a stain and it doesn't come out, on say the carpet, then they replace the carpet. On the exterior all they are doing is sealing the paint which is another fancy term for waxing it. All of todays cars no matter what model have clear coat in the paint to protect the base coat.

He gave me a copy of what it covers, I will post it if someone wants to see it.

People still get conned into paying for "interior protection"? You do know all they do is spray a bit of ScotchGuard StainGuard around the interior right? And how much does a can of that cost... $2.99? But then again, it's your car, and if it makes you feel better, well... whatever.

Yeap I know its' Scotch Guard, however I have beige interior. Just incase something is spilled on the seats or floor and the stain can't come out they will replace it. At the cost of an OEM carpet or seat for that matter is worth the $300 I paid. Cheap insurance in my book, well...whatever.

I hear ya. I've got a beige interior too, and it sucks. However, I'll be changing that soon enough, along with other interior modifications, so I don't care too much how dirty it gets. But as for you and your desire to keep the interior as clean as possible, I'd say the insurance you got is worth it. Too bad it doesn't cover wear too...
