So guys can we turn on the dome light with a switch from the inside? Now that its winter I hate having to open my door to get light in the car early mornings.

Some of dem dare fancy boys have that mirror light.. (gotta say that in my best southern accent). I think 94_240sx would probably know how to locate one. Nice upgrade. As for a switch... no luck. You could go cheap and just carry around a flashlight in the center console.

As mentioned, go find a rearview mirror with map lights, that's the best solution.

I'm pretty sure most verts didn't come with map light mirrors. Mine didn't But I have one to install, just haven't got around to it yet.

LMAO sounds like an interesting project. I mean we have interior lights when the door opens. How hard would it be to wire it to a switch inside?

not hard, but I found a ford mirror that is oddly similar to the vert mirror with lights. It looks exactly the same. I'll try to find out what model and get back at you.

Seems like someone else said they thought the maplight rear view mirror in verts looked a lot like a US market mirror...I'd like to know which auto maker and car they came out of so I could order a new one...mine looks ok but the mirror has some imperfections on it...looks like from the bulbs...like the heat scorched it.

okay so I did some research and I found out where the mirror is from. Apparently, the 1987-1993 Ford Mustang (foxbody) convertible had the SAME EXACT mirror as our verts. The next thing to do is to check to see if ford still manufactures these, I'm having trouble finding an OEM dealer one. However, there are a bunch running on ebay right now.

Heres a picture of the mirror I found:

I'm pretty sure it might plug straight into the stock wiring too. Also, my vert is a 93 and it has a map light mirror. I highly doubt the previous owner did it, they obviously knew nothing about the car.

Verts without the map lights do not have any wiring for them, so you have to wire them. Wasn't hard though. But the mirror does look the same as the Ford one. Surprised because I thought I had heard of some GM parts being used on Verts as well (seatbelts maybe?).

I dont see why they wouldn't work. Its just a matter of wiring really. and thats usually just 2 wires.I was actually looking at one of these for a while http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors..._1183

Sure you can. The bulbs are just 194 wedge bulbs. Just get 194 LEDs.
