Another question regarding importing a US model G37 into Canada. One requirement Canadian federal transportation board requires on Canadian vehicles is daytime running lights. Do US G37's have daytime running lights, if not can they be programmed by the dealership?

Thanks...

I know it doesn't have it but not sure if the dealer can program it. There is an Inifiniti Salesperson on the Board and you may want to look for him as he may know. Good luck!

Hey Dukestar,

I just checked with my parts department and the Infiniti corporate office. They say for all American G37's you would have to go with an aftermarket kit.

I found this site that offers universal DRL kits:

Not too bad at $97

I called an Infiniti dealership about this and they said that the cost would be around $450 to get DRL enabled. I think I would want the dealership to do it rather than the aftermarket option but that's just my feeling.

Hey duke, currently looking at importing a g37 myself.

The US dealer quoted me installation for $350usd. However, in the past i believe most ppl just have DRL's installed by canadian tire. (I've also heard of horror stories where someone has totally screwed up)...

the DRL modules can be as cheap as $25. What they end up doing is wiring the foglights to stay on permanenetly. .thats the easiest wiring install. Unfortunately it is not as easy as electronically enabling it (I checked the G37 service manuals and both the wiring and diagnostics dont appear to be possible)

Duke,

Just make sure they're not putting a $95 aftermarket kit in and charging you $450.00. I've seen it done.

Coma, thanks for the info. I just imported an X3 and DRL were enabled on it by BMW by simply updating some code, 1 hour labour at $117/hr (also had the odo changed to km from miles). It's unfortunate that Infiniti doesn't do the same thing. If you think about it why not just build the cars regardless of destination jurisdiction and then enable options like DRL and odo via code at destination. Why have multiple build processes for US and CDN cars?

The US dealer said they'd do it. I think if they do it then they take responsibilty for any screw ups. Given that we end up saving a bunch another ~$500 doesn't concern me so I think I'd prefer the delivering dealership to do it.
