Those things you see on TV. My general opinion is that it looks like they are full of crap. Anyone have experience with that type of stuff? And if it is just a bunch of crap, is there any cure for scratches? Or is a paintjob the only cure?

Are you talking about that stuff thats called GS-27?

I hear that they work moderately good, but are only for surface scratches.... Unlike what the commercial advertises, it wont work if its gotten into the paint... Only cure for that is some touchup paint...

3M and meguires make stuff for scratches that you can get at autoparts stores... One of them is called scratch-x and I cant remember who its made by.... Ive heard great reviews about it.... The 3M stuff works very well also....

Theyre great! There's other ones beside GS-27 that work well. If you want to go further, you can get the colored wax to go on top of that.
