are these spark plugs okay?i don't know when the last time they were replaced but i just got some iridium plugs for my car and i don't wanna install them yet if something's wrongabout. . . 8000 miles back, it looked like there was a leak on my valve cover so i replaced the valve cover gasket on my car that had about. . . 78,000 miles and i cleaned up the valve cover and nothing seemed to leak.could these plugs look like that from the incident or is this just normal wear and tear? thanks.

It's hard to tell from that shot, try and get a close-up of the electrodes.

From a distance they look normal to me, but there's not enough detail to say for sure.

BTW, everything in the engine pretty much smells like oil. :)

I would replace them anyways. Those 3 prong SP are crap IMO.

Guy im pretty or completely new to this, i hope no one gets offended by the ignorant question i know some people do, but what spark plugs and what heat range should i use for the Sr20det, and which would be the best wires to use. Redirect me somewhere else if you think is appropiate. Thank you.

Notice the Platinum +4 on the side... Sorry, just an observation. Anyway, if the edge of the tip of the eletrode is still fairly sharp which you can't tell from the picture, and the ground straps, or whatever you want to call those 4 things aren't to worn and have a sharp edge then you are probly okay. Sparks like a nice sharp edge and that is where they are worn. I don't know if you can check the gap with all those stupid "ground straps" or whatever but that is another way to check the condition of your plugs. If the gap is excessive it works your ignition system harder and might cost a little power. My recommendation is to go ahead and switch to the iridium because they have been known to increase power and they will last longer than your car.

thanks guys :) i took it to autozone and the guy said that it was it was more normal than anything else. thanks, keyy, i'll look into what lean spark plugs might look like. i can't seem to zoom in closer, my digital camera seems to not be able to focus well. i put in my plugs but i still do think something may be up. . .i like the iridium in there, its probably the new plugs, but the stuttering when i start from a stop is gone and i can now feel the pull from 4k again (i was running with a check engine light for 2 weeks and got 10 mpg)

thanks, guys :)
