As many here know the SR20 needs an aftermarket oil pan with better geometry and larger fill volume to salfly run autocross and not be in danger of oil starvation issues.

One example is teh Greddy oil pan for that application.

I wonder how the VQ series engine fare?

Specifically the VQ35de in the 350Z.

Anyone know?

Fred...

well it would have to be better than the L6, mine has no internal baffeling at all! and the pickup is in the front of the sump, with my old L6 engine the pickup was in the same place but with a mid sump pan so the pickup wis in the rear of the sump, you have to remember that with autocross your turns are for limeted amounts of time, and the less bodyroll you have the less oil slosh your gonna have, the SR's use no internal baffeling? have no idea what the inside of a 350 pan llooks like but most modern cars have some sort of baffeling in their oil pans

Here is one for 350Z application:http://www.injectedperformance...d=668

A call to the vednor should likely tell to fit G35 applications as well.

Which VQ series car are you looking to autoX?

Fred..

PS: I was also eyeing an oil cooler:http://www.sportcompactonly.co...&v=-1

The VQ does have a factory installed baffle, how efficent it is ahh I am not sure. the factory baffel is mearly a plate that bolts to the pan skirt about 3 to 4 inches above the lower pan cover. it has a tear drop hole in it for the pick tube to run down inside and several small slots. Thats pretty much it. It doesnt stop the side to side movement of oil but will decrease the roll up the side movement on long hard turns.

sounds more like a windage tray? still in an autocross situation you'd be hard pressed to find a turn long enough to be a problem, best I can recall my last autocross was about 50 seconds with about 20 turns while you might be exceeding 1 lateral g it is only for very brief moments, I say if it breaks the car then it was an inferior car!
