I want to know if the 89-90 and 91-94 speedo gauge faces are interchangeable. What I mean by this is if you put a 91-94 speedo gauge face and swapped it with the one in the 89-90 cluster, would the gauge be correct? I know that the 91-94 gauge face says 60MPH=1024rpm. Does the 89-90 gague face say the same thing?
This is why I want to know

Instead of switching one gauge over, it's pretty cheap and easy to switch over the whole cluster. My stock cluster from my 89 wasn't in that good of condition. I paid $15 USD at a local salvage for a 1993 cluster. Plus the salvages around here won't just pull out one gauge and sell it. They want to sell the whole thing. It's really easy to swap over.
You cannot just swap the faces because the faces have nothing to do with the operation of a gauge itself. The 89-90 spedo has different labels on it, so if you swap in just a face you will be reading wrong...it's only 5mph I think so it's not that bad. So yes I guess you could do that, it just won't read right.
