I'm buying an s14 in a few days. Its been sitting for two years and I need to drain the gas. Is there a drain plug on the gas tank?

never heard of a gastank drainplug. for the most part you can hook up a rubber line to the metal exit line and run it to a jug, then just keep cycling the key for a while. that will get most of it out. but dont run it constantly. youll run the risk of ruining the pump

Wow. How many cars have you worked on if you never heard of a gas tank drain plug? They have been on cars for 80 years, I guesse its a Domestic thing.

Domestics more commonly have metal gas tanks while the imports all mainly have plastic tanks. This really is no excuse for not having a drain however.. Although eliminating the possibility of a fuel leak certainly is.

Your best bet? Hand pump and pulling all the gas out of the tank through the top of the fuel tank. The circular access door. Id pump the majority of it out first with the E pump, from the feed line into a bucket. Once it gets low, then use your hand pump.

the late 240zx and 280zx have drain plug for gas tank. they done away with it because of the gas prices in the last gas crunch when people will drain and steal gas, i can say this because all 3 of my 280zx had drain plug and it didn't have a wet spot one it a bit, but most importantly they moved on the the BIGGER AND BETTER and LIGHTER PLASTIC GAS TANK that is why 99% of the gas tank today have no drain plug. i will leave that 1% out because i've never worked on lambo or bently. but for most part am pretty sure that is why the s14 don't have a drain plug.

Don't buy the real cheap one at HF. You'd be better off pulling a siphon with your mouth.
