Do professional race car drivers drift while they are racing? Or is drift all for show and not actually faster than grip driving?

I have heard a few stories that Michael Schumaker (Formula1 driver) has been known to drift his car around the oval track banks. Not like a** end out or anything, but you can see that the tail is out farther than the front.

Drifting in a properly set up car isnt hard to control. Drifting is a show thing... its not faster.
