I understand that telemarketers are going to be able call cell numbers soon (looking for story), but you can add your cell number to the National Do Not Call Registry. Anyone in the cell business know anything about this?

Yes, I found this on snopes, but also on a few local press sites, just nothing national, so I'd say the vote is 3 bogus, 2 real.

Your thoughts?

I just heard about that a few days ago on the news too...I remember them saying something about getting your cell # on the do not call regisrty asap.

Here...this gives you a # to call to register your phone or there is also a website you can go to.http://www.local10.com/technol....html

Telemarketers never call me, and I am not registered.......wait, maybe that's because I live in Japan....ha ha ha...

Seriously though...if they start calling cell numbers, that would not be cool. Then people would have to start screening cell phones too...what is this world coming to....BAN TELEMARKETERS AND START A REVOLUTION...CALL THEM AND HARASS THEM!!!

The story has been circulated via email and it is bogus. The Federal Trade Commission was on the TV dispelling this rumor. Telemarketers typically do not call cell phones to sell you items because the cell phone user pays for the call. Additions to the Do Not Call List have jumped from 100K entries a day to a few Million. When I receive a soliciting phone call on my cell phone, I tell them that they have called my business phone or cell phone that keeps them from contacting me again.bud

Glad to hear that it's bogus. I was gonna chew them out anyhow, but now I can do it knowing they have no business doing so.
