Well i learned the hard way myself. i have 1k miles on my freshly built motor and when doing an inspection of my turbo i realized that this turbo SUCKS. after only 1k miles of boosting 15 psi on this remand. turbo one of the compressor blades chipped off and is now inside my motor somewhere. STAY AWAY FROM TURBO ZY. yes i am an idiot. heres the pic of the blade. look at about 7 o'clock on the wheel and you can see where the chip is missing.JUST SAY NO!!! on a good note... i waxed my car today

I'm sorry to hear that Shawn. I was hoping you'd have good better luck than others with it.

BTW nice wax job.=) Looks good, can't even see that black intercooler from that angle. Which is great at keeping theft down.

I could of told ya that bro.. should of searched.

ZY turbos are the worst of the aboslute worst. made in china with TERRIBLE parts.

A long time I posted a link that lead to pics of a ZY turbo that literally SPLIT IN HALF, and the compressor housing had an EPOXY holding it together.

But ya live ya learn.

Save up for a respectable company name brand turbo this time.

Don't "move up" and get a XS turbo either, while yes they are better than a ZY, they are still SSAC parts and junk.

I think the makers of Turbo ZY should get sued by everyone. Seriously HUNDREDS of ppl have been completely ****ed from their turbos...idk why they don't try and do something about it.

Woah calm down... it's not his fault it's the people who made the turbo..

Why did you not just go with a Garrett in the first place?

yes it is a BD turbo. I know its not his fault. i didnt say it was. I need to build another motor now.... my compression is now at 104 psi.... I can be a bit pissed off about this since this motor has 1k miles on it. didnt even get to enjoy it fully.

hehe don't get it confused. XS is the SSAU turbo. ZY is by FAR WORSE than the XS/SSAU.

While it isn't his fault, as he didn't know, you would think he would of noticed the "ZY Turbo" on it. There have been TONS of threads about just how absolute garbage they are on here.

God freaking darn it... i wish i saw this post yesterday..

i have never heard of this turbo before right now. I just bought a t3/t04 turbo zy from this kid in NY. It has about 5000 miles on it, or so im told, has very minimal shaft and end plsy. So i bought it and a tial wastegate, come home and find out that i just got screwed. AS F%^*^#g ususal... every time i try to do something to my car, it ends up kicking my in the A$$...

is there any chance of rebuilding the internals with a garett turbo rebuild kit to make it better, or am i just out my money....again....

wow i feel so lucky cause i destroyed two turbos from foreign object damage and thats where all the blades broke.

i still have perfect compression and when i swapped my intercooler yesturday, all the pieces of the blades were stuck in the intercooler core. swwweeet.

That is what I am thinking happen. The blade is probably stuck in the intercooler. I have that exact same turbo on my car. I think I may give MJM Turbo a call and see if I can get this upgraded to something better. I really haven`t had any problems but I really don`t want any either.

It really is sad to see all the turbo shops buying ZY turbos now to sell to their customers. They need to stop it.. I would like to see a lawsuit go against ZY turbos....ALL of them destroy themselves way too soon when you compare it to the life of a garrett turbo, or something of the like. Word needs to get around that shops should not buy this junk, and if they do, they'll have no business on that aspect of their shop.

FYI Here is a copy of the XS Power turbo that is being made by ZY. This is the new one they sent me after I wrote them a letter about their 'black tag' model.

To DammitBobby and others who have experience with these turbos:What are the boost threshold like (when does boost start building)? I think I will try their XS Power copy on my stock KA just to see but not on a serious built motor.

i dont think i'll buy any other than top brand turbos like Garrett, HKS, Apexi... I have my T25 stock from SR20 and once that blows, i'm going to buy a brand new one..unless i'm there to visually inspect it before I buy it.

Should be on there somewhere. I didn't spend that much time on it. I paid $650 for a TE44 for my Buick about five years ago. Excellent quality, superb service, very good people.

Right now the car is not running but it was running low on the compression test 160 across all cylinders. I think I was making 10 psi boost at 3k. I really don`t know for sure what size it is. I think the turbine side is 48 an the compressor is 50.

You might want to send a picture of your turbine to the company to see if they will do anything about it.

I bought mine used and still got a replacement of their new design so you might want to just write them a friendly non-hostile letter (hard to do I know) and offer to try out their new 'T3/T4' design. Although, I'm not sure if it's worth it as you might just end up with the same problems in the future. Hope someone steps up to help you.

Good luck.

You can't really get pissed at anyone but yourself for this. Its obvious that something is up when turbos are being sold for %50 less than phoenixturbo.com sells them for. Its not like this company gets a "magic" discount on the cost of materials or something. Just don't buy cheap turbos. I mean, KA-T(KA24DE+turbo). You really shouldn't cheap on anything that is in the name of what you are building...

There is a T3 turbo for sale in the KA-T.org for sale section for $125.
