Automobile Magazine recently did a long, well-written story about the Japanese market, how Japan was intimidated into trade with the US, and how the Corvette is a lingering symbol of American power going back decades.

People pay a premium to bring Vettes into Japan. I would if I was Japanese. And if I could afford one, I'd have a Vette right now.

There's something fantastic about the way domestic sports cars look. Its that intimidating, unafraid, loud boldness. You can have your stupid stickers and pathetic curb-kissing body kits. But I want a deep grunt and massive torque in the rear.

why do you need a 'vette when you've got the lovewagon? :asmile

japan has been pressured into trading with the US for a very long time. If the US wasn't such a trade bully, Japan would probably still have closed borders. The US has always resolved trade disputes with Japan through strong arming of bilateral trade agreements. It's a practice I don't condone, but Japan has yet to take it to the WTO
