Ok guys, own a Rogue, 1 1/2 yrs old, 28K miles and am having my 4th transmission put in next week. 3rd one was put in 4K miles ago....

To say I am truly upset is an understatement. I called Nissan Corporate and opened a case about the ongoing problems I have had, transmission, hoses loosening, steering noises etc etc.

It kills me cause the shop admits that there have been ongoing problems with the transmission on the Rogues but supposedly it had been fixes with all new 09 trannys.....guess not

Can't claim lemon law but I guess we'll see if Nissan offers anything..

Anybody on their 4th transmission yet?

Ouch! Man, that sucks. Mass's lemon law is pretty dismal. My state is 2 years/24,000 miles.

Do you always go to the same dealership to get the work done? If so, you might want to try going with a different one. As they say, your results may vary.

What kind of hit would you take if you got it repaired again and then sold it?

That's unfortunate. IIRC, a 4th transmission would qualify in my state.

I am waiting to see what Nissan will do. They may just say "Well we are repairing it so what's the issue" which is a worst case secenario.

If they do not do anything then yes my next option will be to look at trade in and maybe get something else.

It is truly sad, as I really like the car but I am in paranoia mode with any new sound, creak etc with the car.....

Stay tuned!

This is obviously very abnormal, and it's unacceptable for your service department to offer no suggestion as to why your transmission would keep failing. There is obviously a higher issue with this vechicle not related to the quality of the CVT, since the vast majority of owners have no problems with the CVT and if they do have a defect and have it replaced, the new CVT proves to be the solution. I unfortunatley had a defective 08 CVT but it was replaced thousands of miles ago and the new one has been nothing but perfection. Your service tech's really need to look deeper into this problem rather than just continuuing to swap in a new part that is bound to continue to get torn up and destroyed due to some other underlying issue.

I'd really press them in conversation for details as to why this may be happening, and ask what additional things are they checking to track down the real problem and prevent this cycle from recurring?

I agree. The Altima guys have had relatively no issues with their CVT and I have not heard anything negative from the Maxima side either.

Ironically I have a friend that worked for the company that made sensors for the CVT transmission and admitted that 50% of the sensors were faulty. Instead of Nissan doing a full blown recall on all Rogues they took their chances to see how had problems.

It was ironic as he asked me one day, have you had any problems with your CVT on your Rogue and when I said I have, why do you ask...he then told me the above story...
