I am planning on purchasing my first 240sx with the KA24de. It's a 91 and has the following modifactions...

*performance 6-puck clutch w/ sprung hub for soft engagement *t3 turbo set @ 6psi * front mount Intercooler w/ 2.5" piping and short pipes *S-AFC NEO air/fuel controller *Nissan 370cc injectors *Walbro 255 lph intank fuel pump *2.5" downpipe w/cat to 3.5" Hks super drager exhaust *VDO boost gauge

The motor has very good compression 185 in all four cylinders. The kid I'm buying it from has only put a few hundred miles on it since the turbo was installed and he tuned the a/f ratios the best he could with the saf-c.I called up my local import tuning shop to see how much it would cost to get the a/f ratios properly tuned. Since I'm running low amounts of boost I figured I could just back off the stock timing a little bit and that should be good. My tuner says it's necessary to install an aftermarket tuning software. He tells me emanage is my cheapest option in order to safely boost and it'll cost $890 for the setup, installation, and tuning. Is this really necessary to protect my motor or would tuning the a/f ratios and backing off the timing be good enough????

Please help me out cause I don't think I'll go through with purchasing the car if I'll have to dump $900 into it immediately in order to safely use boost.
