Hi all,In the next few weeks I will be installing a fmic, hks gt-ss turbo (300hp turbo), exhaust manifold, 3 inch exhaust, to my totally stock s14 with the sr20det motor.Do I need a tune? or is there a way of doing this with a AFC and a BC? note: turbo will be running at .8 to 1 bar only.

because my problem, is that there is no tuner for the nissan anywhere close to where i live. and that is a problem. And i want to avoid a tune.

the fuel delivery will be as stock. no change to the fuel pump or injectors.

thanks for help

you dont HAVE to tune it but it may run like A@$ and it wont last as long...

jk

you always need to tune after making significant changes to your car. Its not as easy as bolting on a bigger turbo, though some may say it is. Bolt-ons like intercoolers, manifolds, pulleys etc, not so much a worry, but a turbo upgrade, and i hope you will be adding fuel because it is way too tempting to have that kind of power available and to turn up the boost and screw up the engine because there is no fuel available.

you can send you computer off or purchase on with specific programming

Also you can find different companies like Jim wolfe technologies, who can tune your computer to specs, or you could buy and Apex'i power FC or AEM comp(cost way more but has online maps that you can use for tuning)

To answer your question if you can keep the boost way down, you will still be maxing out your injectors at 300 HPish and are you running a different Air flow meter, cause you will have rev problems if you dont consider looking for a bigger meter. Good Luck with that
