I am changing water pump, timing belt and crankshaft seal on my 1995 infiniti J30 and have problem taking crankshaft seal out. Do I need to take the oil pan to pry the seal out? what is the best way to do this?

I don't think so if your chaning the front oil seal.

No, at least not on a '93. It can get pretty torn up during removal and just don't scratch any critical crankshaft surfaces.

Check out a number of the Z32/300ZX VG30DE and VG30DETT timing belt removal and installation related write-ups (complete with color photos) that are out there.

It still makes me a bit nervous thinking about removing and installing all five front oil seals, but about 10K miles later all still seems to be good. I even very carefully used small amounts of RTV around the new seal ODs, while also oiling the IDs.

Do the four camshaft seals first, practicing up for the crankshaft seal that is more difficult, different in a number of ways and more nerve-wracking. At least they should all be the same seal/part.

Thanks for the comments. One of the documents was asking to remove the pan however based on the above comments I used the Seal puller and it did the job.
