DO I NEED TO MATE BOTH WIRING HARNESS ???

IM doing a nissan 240SX SE 5-speed to S14 SR20DET black top (220hp ) 5-Speed swap and my dashboard and Radio Doesnt work at all ... no fuel gauges...no nothing... so i was wondering ... why cant i use just the SR20DET wiring alone and buy the S14 Zenki Jap dash with gauges?? ... I tried google , yahoo answers and everytime i tried using the search function on nicoforum is more complicated than just asking i'm sure that the reputation of NICOclub.com being really nasty on answers is just a myth ! :D so i'll try your knowledge !

Please advice ! since i would preffer never use the Ka24 wiring (even if it means i need to buy Silvia headlights and tail lights! lol..

You really should mention what year 240 you have.

From the sounds of it though, you probably didn't hook up the dash connector plug next to the ECU. But that would only stop signals from going to your guages. Make sure you don't have a blown fuse and that you have the two little plugs that go to the positive terminal of your battery hooked up.

Sorry !! you are right ! lest start from the beggining. I just purchase yesterday a 1995 nissan 240 SX SE(according to the VIN but no stickers ) it is 5-speed and the body is in perfect condition (except for interior wise and paint) I drove it from the dealer to my house (350 aprox miles Jacksonville to Miami) and it drove perfect; but the radio has the dim light always on , also i see a bunch of cheap "CUSTOM WIRING" done next to the radio (inside) and the Fuel gauge, speedometer, and mile marker does not work. the dash is cracked in the middle and "supposedly" only the Temp gauge works. power windows where broken but i repaired the solenoid yesterday and works now!! ... So my big question is!!!......

Why can i just use one wiring harness that comes from the silvia black top S14 (225hp) swap package that i just bought . why is there a need to mate them ? just to use the AMERICAN (miles) Dash board?? what if i buy custome gauges or just the JDM ZENKI DASH ?????? ...what are the problems that could arise ?? (i dont mind reading KPH ..im used too !! )
