hi~I'm a new G35 coupe owner.I bought a 04 coupe(23000miles) including all the equipment except the navigation for 25500. But now I'm concerning about the tires. b/c I live in PA now, and we will have like 5 month snow season~ But the tires that I have now is the summer tires. So I'm wondering that is it necessary that I need to change the tires? If I don't change it, would it be out of control easily? and if I need to change the tires, any recommendation? and like how much will it cost?

my coupe have the sport package~so the size is 225/45R18 for frontand 245/45R18 for the rear tires

Thanks for the help and suggestion

Get some snow tires if you can. Perhaps a second set of wheels to mount them on and easily remove when the snow is gone. The summer tires will not grip the snow at all. YOu can look up tire prices on tirerack.com. They are pretty competetive and can package a wheel and tire together and ship it to you mounted if you decide to go that route.

At the very minimum, at least get all-season tires. The summer tires have no design factor to help out in even light snow. Summer tires are also somewhat hard in compound. When cold they will be that much harder.

Absolutely agreed! Summer tires are downright dangerous in snow ... you will not have any grip and it is too easy to slide into the nearest car, rock, tree, etc., even with low speeds.

I lived in New Hampshire for many years and speak from experience on multiple RWD cars. I ended up sliding off a hill in my 300ZX Turbo once and I was very lucky that all I had was a bent fender ...

Do yourself a favor and buy some used G35 OEM wheels at eBay (even older models with the 17" rims and the right offset will work fine) and get some good snow tires. Well worth it!

SUMMER TIRES are not designed to function below summer temperatures!

Even 50F wet is down right dangeous as the compounds near the plasticization point. [varies by brand and model].

All Season extend the temperature a little lower but they were orginally called FALL SEASON by engineers/designers but marketing dropped the F to sell them!

IMHO either stick with performance summer tires and don't drive in snow and ice or get a dedicated set of winter tires. The all season don't do either summer or winter very well. Gone that route on a BMW 3 series and the result was horrible. Ending up getting a set of Michelin Arctic Alpins for winter, however these rear drive cars still leave a lot to be desired on snow, even with winter tires.

"All Season" is a marketing department euphemism for "compromised performance summer tires, and not very good winter tires."

Get the corrrect tire for the correct season.
