While replacing my vac hoses, one of the hose connectors broke clean off the TVV, I know its for emissions and it controls the vacuum sent to the EGR. I can find another one but its way too pricey for such a small item. Is it possible to do without it, and if so, do I just find a threaded plug for the hole, and what becomes of the vac lines that connected to it ?

you can toss it... unless of course you need to pass emissions

i can't remember exactly which hoses go to it without looking at one that still has it all connected... but basically you can cap off any open ends where those hoses lead

The engine runs better without the emissions crap. The only vac line necessary is the vacuum advance for the distributor.

would it be ok if I just left it in place, cause it is plugging a hole that coolant would spew out of, and cap the lines that went to it?

No problem. Just cap off the vac line connector. Make sure you do not have to pass emission control.

The TVV screws into the coolant passage in front of the carb, the bottom of it is a brass? button that sits in the coolant path, it senses coolant temp by expanding wax that forces a plunger to open the vacuum to the EGR valve. Newer cars use an electric solenoid for this. If the thermal vacuum valve is removed the coolant will come out of this hole.
