The ones that hold the shafts in diff. i have a solid subframe so it wont move. this is a j30 diff in an s13 by the way. THANKS A LOT

I have heard an open diff shaft works for the short side, but i cant get it to work?? Anybody done this, does it require any mods. Thanks

I cant be of much help to you as I have not done this yet. I think Chris has and he should know. He will likely reply today or tomorrow to this hopefully. I just didnt want you to think you was being ignored since I hadnt asnwered your initial question.

I had a J30 diff ,tried to fit into my S13,

wouldnt work needed output shafts ( real$$ from dealer, which pushed the total price of that used VLSD very close to that of a new Nismo 1.5 ).

i have a s13 vlsd but i think the j30 diff should be similar. regardless i would think you could get by without the clips. you are talking about the c clips right? i think you are. check napa or carquest for those clips as they may have an assortment of them. if not i would think you could get by without them. i would try to get them before i did without though.

the output shafts are the same, 3x2. i have the clip, but it wont go in with it on. i have a solid subframe so i can't see the diff moving. thanks for all the help chris,wd, and nistech

you have the clip? you should use it then. try squeezing it as small as you can. then put wheel bearing grease on it and center in on the axle. then line it up and insert. when it stops you can tap her home with a hammer. sometimes it takes a while and sometimes it just slides on in with a click.
