not getting a proper tach signal just kinda flickers when i let off the gas. Any suggestions? My friend thinks since i have a dohc cluster and the ca is from the sohc era that i need one?

I don't think so. I think the SOHC tach was a beast all of it's own.

unless you have a CA18ET, you should need a DOHC tach. i know my SOHC cluster was a POS when i tried using it lol

the temp sensor should work regardless since its the same. The only difference is the Tach i believe. SOHC tach + DOHC engine = no go

my speedo and tach started working after swapping clusters. but im also using the JDM VSS and JDM tyte 180sx cluster

Is there anyway to make a SOHC cluster work for a Ca? I like the look of the SOHC cluster. : ) I assume you can just change out the DOHC tach and out it in the SOHC cluster and it will work?

from what i've read and have been told, you can swap the DOHC tach into the SOHC cluster, but is there really a difference in the two clusters? lol maybe its the 115mph reading on it haha. i like the JDM cluster though, its funny to watch ppl yell at me for going 80mph when im really only doing 50 :D lol

I've read the Sohc and Dohc tach read different signals, so switching out the tachs will clear up the issues you have.
