Do i need a cat for my sr20 swap?

Sorry it seems like this has probably been covered so don't hate i tried searching multiple querys and i couldn't find any answers i was looking for. Im collecting parts to swap out my 233k+ KA for an sr20, so cliche i know but its an upgrade and not as expensive as the other engines. Seems easier to. I would like to get a cat-back, but i might not if i don't actually have to. But whether i do or don't, will i have to get a new cat? When i get the sr20 it probably wont come with a manifold, and i don't think i can use my exhaust manifold from the KA can i? So will i have to buy a new manifold for it? Then an elbow and a dowpipe and a cat and cat-back? I was wondering because all of the nice ones i see for sale are either 2.5" or 3" wide, this wont bolt up to my wittle KA cat will it? So ill have to replace everything from manifold back? Thats just more money then i was hoping to spend...

your sr20 will have a manifold, you may have to pick up a downpipe. dont buy a cat, get a test pipe ,very cheap. then just get an exhaust shop to run you a 3inch pipe out to the back and stick a muffler on the end.or get a cheap ebay catback, somtimes you see them with a test pipe included though you can garantee how itll fit.

okay thanks yeah i saw a lot of those for sale and they looked cheaper, but what will i do when inspection time rolls around and the guy lifts her up? sometimes they dont here in VA but some places do, theyll fail it with no cat. heh i might be able to meet somebody and pay them for one i guess but this car will be my daily.
