I want to boost my car at 12lb, not a pound more.

I already got a hks adjustable wastegate aculator, I was reading on it and it said I can just turn the nut/knob on it manually to raise/lower boost (by dictating when the wastegate will open)

Do I still need a boost controller if that's the case?does boost gauge need a boost controller to work?

You do not need a boost controller. The HKS actuator regulates boost by the length of the arm opening the wastegate flapper. Basically the shorter the arm the higher the boost. You have to set it, drive around to see where it is at and take it off and adjust till you get it where you want. FYI shorten it little by little. You do not want to jump up to 20psi by accident.
