Some dude that I know tells me when I install a new coilover, I have to loosen all the bushings on the suspension struts and arms prior to installation of the coilover so that the bushings don't get twisted once the installation is done. Is this true?

When do I loosen and tighten the bushings during the coilover install?

That makes no sense.

Just take off the old stuff and put on the new stuff.

Make sure to get the car aligned afterwards.

Wouldn't bunshing get deformed once a new coilover takes place changing the suspension geometry and car gets lowered?

the bushings are always deformed. thats a sad fact of bushings in the suspension. bearings would be nice for us performance types. you can lube the bushing to help alleviate that sort of thing. some cars with polyurethane bushings need zerk fittings to allow monthly greasing. otherwise the bushings will bind and cause rediculous antics under cornering load. i have experienced this first hand.

now for your question. i would not loosen the bushings unless you are going to replace them or at least grease them up.
