do i have to have a harness bar?

forgive me if this is a noob question. so i was thing of getting a racing seat and 4 point harness, but do i really need a harness bar? if so does anybody know the exact length required?

If you at work, wait till you can search. You don't need anything, but you should have one, with harnesses. And with a harness and harness bar you should have a roll bar.
