I just installed rear pads but the "brake pads worn" light was on after I change the front pads so that may be because the mechanic didnt solder on the brake pad sensor in the front.

but do i have to replace the rear pad sensor or can i keep using it?

and why is there a rear brake sensor that doent have to be replaced in the back but in the front you have to keep replacing the sensor?

The brake sensors have to be replaced unless you replace the pads before they get to the sensor.

They're only on the passenger side so there's just two- front and rear. Most of the members (not the pie pan guys) have wheels that you can look between the spokes and see the brake pads. I prefer to visually check them myself with a flashlight rather than rely on a dummy light to tell me they're worn. The sensor can be reused with your next set of pads, but once the it wears and activates the warning message it needs to be replaced or jumpered.

Once they are both jumpered you never have to see the "brake pads worn" message but the onus is on you to visually check the pads. When I found out how expensive the sensors were I jumpered them both.

Find the sensor coming out of the pad and follow it back to the connector. Sorry but I don't recall the exact location of the connectors but it's only 12-18 inches away from the pads. Unplug the sensor on both ends, cut the connector end leaving a few inches and splice or solder the two wires together. Plug the spliced end into the connector and the message goes away.
