1999.5 Nissan Pathfinder LE 2WD 3.3L

Back Story
I've had my Path for about 5 years now - bought it used (third owner - I think). We bought it from a pretty small no name car dealer and it never came with a key fob. Always assumed it didn't come equipped with keyless entry. However, there's always been this sneaking (hopeful) suspicion that possibly it is equipped, but the key fob got lost somewhere along its journey. It's an LE! I would imagine nearly every option is equipped!? Decided to look into it and found a few signs that point to keyless entry being equipped.

-Power Everything (Except Seats)
-Alarm
-Flashing Red Security Light
-Car Can Enter Programming Mode (Key In/Out Ignition Six Times - Hazards Flash)
-Relay In The Keyless Entry Spot
-Seen On A Few Different Websites That Keyless Entry Was Standard on This Model/Trim

I understand this is by no means damning evidence, but food for thought...

Present Day
Bought a key fob off eBay for my make/model and followed programming instructions (seen below).

1. Close and lock all doors with the driver’s side power lock/unlock switch.

2. Insert key into ignition and remove it from the ignition key cylinder at least six times within 10 seconds. Your Hazard
Lamps will flash if you have performed this step successfully. NOTE: Withdraw key completely from ignition cylinder
each time. If this procedure is performed too fast, system will not enter programming mode.

3. Insert key into the ignition cylinder and turn to the ACC position.

4. Within 5 seconds, push ANY button on the remote transmitter. Your Hazard Lamps should flash. NOTE: Do not press
the button more than one time in the above step. If the button is pressed more than one time, the programming
procedure will not be successful.

5. If there are any remaining transmitters (including the old ones), unlock then lock all doors using the driver’s side
power lock/unlock switch and within 5 seconds, push ANY button on the next remote. Your Hazard Lamps should
flash. Repeat this step for each transmitter (including any existing transmitters).

6. Turn the key to the OFF position, remove keys from the ignition, unlock doors using the driver’s side power lock/unlock switch and open the driver side door.

Now I've seen a few variants of this method (turn to ON position, press LOCK button on key fob, etc...) and tried them all, but I do not get the second hazard flash described in Step 4 and cannot get this remote to program.

While I know this isn't looking good for me, I was wondering if there was any way I can confirm whether or not I have keyless entry once and for all! Or if we have other ideas to get this key fob programmed, I'm willing to try!

Thanks!

CLIFF NOTES: Might have keyless programming; anyway I can definitively find out?

How sure are you that you have the right fob? That it works?

This may or may not help to narrow it down:
Firstly, how many doors have a keyhole?
On my '02, only the drivers' side front door has a keyhole. There isn't one on the passenger side. (I have one on the hatch, but I don't count that one.)
Secondly, try unlocking the doors with the key in the door lock.
Turn it once (clockwise), and the driver's door should unlock.
Turn it clockwise again, and the rest should unlock.
Turning it counterclockwise should lock all four doors.
If yours works that way, then I'm pretty sure you have remote entry.
Hope this helps.

There are two different keyfob models, at least for 2001 models; I'm not positive whether 1999.5 models had two. Both have the FCC ID KBRASTU10. The models are MODEL/ A, and MODEL/ 1A I believe. They are not interchangeable. I'm not sure how to determine which one was originally used.

Check if there is a fuse and a relay in the specified positions:

I have three - Driver's Door, Passenger's Door, Hatch Door.
Yes; my locks do work in that fashion.

Fuses and relays? Check!

Well, the posting described it working for any 1999.5-2001 Nissan Pathfinder (with a note pointing out the MODEL/A or MODEL 01/A requirement.)

BUT THEN IF FOUND THIS WEBSITE...
http://www.keylessremotesonline.com/Pathfinder_c249.htm

Which describes the one I purchased (KBRASTU09) as "to be used on the vehicles with the production date after 12/1999".
My production date? - 06/99

Could this be the issue? Any ideas before I make the exchange?

Thanks!

Remove the door panel and ensure none of the lock rods are jammed up on something. If they're all fine, the lock cylinder is probably damaged or the incorrect one for your key.
