Okay Just making sure I have everything before I swap this stuff in. I have a 240sx with only 65000 miles on the odometer. I have the carfax to prove also. WOO! Anyway, here is my list of things. Please someone tell me if I'm missing anything. With this set-up I'm only looking for 230-250hp. Is this going to work?

1. Turbocharge and manifold2. FMU3. Bosch Spark plugs 1 heat range colder.4. Oil feed and drainlines, anybody know the sizes that I'll need?5. Tapping the oil pan and putting on a brass tube. 6. Starion FMIC7. Intake piping, 2.5" mandrel bent U-bends. And 2.25 radiator hose to connect all the intake pipes. 8. Oil pressure, boost gauge, boost timer, A/F ratio gauges, and a boost controller.9. Walbro 255lph fuel pump and 300zx turbo fuel filter.

Am I missing anything to reach my goals of 230-50 hp? Oh and by the by, would a CT-26 turbo work as my turbo?

I'll be damned. There really is one of these every week. I'm just a n00b, but i can tell you all your questions are easily answered with that little red button up there ^

I bought my HKS by-pass ( you want by-pass, forget about bov ) at overboost.com store. $71 new.

Maybe you wan to look for some gasket, and some piping for your exhaust.

A/F gauge is a very "bad" methond to get your a/f right. Make sure you run in rich and tune it at dyno. You should consider EGT too.

You might able to get 230hp. But you seem haven't finish your homework. What FMU are you running ? What boost are you running ? Are you going to hit 80% injectors pluse ?

For spark plugs, I recommend NGK. $1.80 a piece is proven to work. Running rich + plantimum bosch = spark plugs melts

I was thinking Cartech FMU and I was planning on runing 5-7psi. Also I think i'm going to go ahead and get like 440cc injectors just to be on the safe side. Oh and I am going to be running a BTM and a boost timer under there somewhere too.

More info please. Isn't a bypass valve the same as a BOV? They both serve the same function.

Unless you are maybe talking about a pop-off valve?

A bypass and a BOV perform the same function, but the bypass routes the air back into the intake side of the turbo. A BOV justs vents to atmosphere

Whats the fixation on the boost timer ? Just let the thing cool down before you turn it off, you cant be in that big of a hurry. Just make sure you arent boosting max a mile or so before you get where your going and you'll be fine. And this is just my opinion but do yourself a favor and buy a real FMIC, starion is crap.

how about a wastegate, and you better think about replacing stock fuel injectors just to be safe.you also need a downpipe so your exhaust isn't just flowing straight out of the turbo. Also need some type of filter or intake so you dont run an open turbo. Turbo timer would be a good reliability mod to add as well. and I agree with LT_Z you should get a real fmic. If your just trying to save yourself money, quit while your ahead because you need more than what you have and it costs money to keep that car running properly.

So to recap on all of this:

1.Turbocharge and manifold and downpipe $6002. Cartech FMU $1753. Spark plugs 1 heat range colder. $104. Oil feed and drainlines. $305. Tapping the oil pan and putting on a brass tube. $306. Starion FMIC $1007. Intake piping, 2.5" mandrel bent U-bends. And 2.25 radiator hose to connect all the intake pipes. $80-1008. Oil pressure $30 9. Walbro 255lph fuel pump and 300zx turbo fuel filter. $10011. Exhaust piping and intake filter $40012. Wastegate $3013. S-afc $20014. Fuel injectors $100 15. Boost controller with boost gauge $150

The manifold and downpipe and turbo together WILL be $600 or less. Everything else will be ebay'd to me or bought at the local import shop. By the by, would a CT-26 work? They're the turbos that come on MR2's and Supras. Also, I'd like to suggest that we name turbo'd KA24 cars, Kitty KATs.

Ditto, whats wrong with a starion? Size isnt everything. I've always heard they are very efficient.

So when I route my Greddy type S BOV to the intake, it will become a bypass valve?

Or perhaps you mean a BOV will work either way and a bypass valve will work only one way?

Or perhaps it's semantics and they are the same thing......

Not without a manifold with the proper flange, it won't fit on any standard manifolds for sale, it would need to probably be custom.

As far as stock intercoolers off of junkyard cars go, they are very efficient, but won't hold a candle to a proper unit such as a Spearco.

I can't wait till EVOs show up in the junkyard, their cores are huge, :D

as far as the BOV, there's a atmospheric BOV and a recirculating BOV, they're both BOVs, just one vents back to the intake, take a guess which one :D also, the 1G DSMs are very nice set-ups, for a mild 7-14psi set-up, the 1G DSM is the best, they sell for $15 in most cases. also, they're metal, and the caps can be crushed to get up the that 14psi mark, probably more, but I wouldn't go more, also, their design is the exact same as GReddy's Type-S BOV, very efficient design, most OEMs are going to this design

and for the money, on a mild set-up, the starion core is very cost effective, $150 for one that has had all the fins straightened and it's been shined up, on eBay,

200 for a s-afc??? you forgot the injectors.. no need for a s-afc without injects. tack on another $100.

oooor... ditch the fmu/s-afc and do the maf hack :)

I use my stock (uncrushed) BOV for 20-22psi daily, and have been for almost a year. They can take about 20-22 before leaking even in stock form. Crushing isn't the best method to allow them to work at higher boost levels, as they stop opening for low boost applications. (basically anything under 10psi will not trigger the BOV). Dejon Tool makes a cool kit that converts the stock 1g BOV to work at any boost level to 30psi+. Costs $50 and works really well.

(regarding using a ct26 mr2 turbo)

Quote »did you guys know the t4 flange can fit almost perfectly on the stock ct26 flange? you just need to line up the holes a little better cause on the t4 flange two of the holes are probably like 1/2cm out farther. anyway i thought this was pretty damn cool, but i figured no one just bolts on a t4 turbo or something cause it cant fit where it would sit, so it needs the adapter plate. but if no one knew this... you guys may not even need to get adapter plates or whole manifolds made anymore, just extend two of the holes on the t4 plate, and you can bolt that thing right on. i imagine you would have to do the external wastegate mod to your manifold, but i mean hell you can pick up stock manifolds for cheap enough.[/quote]... ct26 should work :)
