I wanted to know if you guys can tell me, what are my possibility beating a bone stock b17 gsr? Well a cousin of mine had be bragging me to race his gsr, I know the grs comes with 170hp, and very torkless. My mods are hks- hiper, and headers. Do you guys think I have a chance to beat him, or to keep up with him?

i think you should deff. be able to keep up with him, dont know about beating him but it sounds possible,this sounds like one of those races where driving skills comes into play, but of course i dont know for sure..go ahead and race and let us know who wins b/c it sounds like it should be a pretty good race

well if its actually a b17 gsr. made in 1992-1993, no i dont think you will beat it. They run low 15's stock. And seeing th emods you have you will probably be a flat 16 or so. Maybe if he really cant drive youd win, but he will have about a 6th of a second advantage on you. Alot depends on what kind of condition the car is in the. How well was it up keeped, because that is starting to get old, and it might run like ****.

wi'll just have to see the results then. By the way his car has 80k, and is in perfect condition. I drove his car before; I have to say v-tec kicks in pretty sweet.
But I know for a fact, that will be dead even, I hope
I didn't know about them untill reacently. My friend josh schooled me on them. The worst part is my dad used to have a 1993 gsr. He bought it brand new, then sold it in like 1996. This was before i was into cars, but i wish i woulda had it. Just the motor alone was worth alot. O well i am way happier with my 240.

just race. i dont know about everybody else,but im getting tired of everybody asking if they will win, and if everybody says no, thn the person might not race. if your gonna race no matter what, then disregard my previous comment. it takes away the whole point of racing if you only do it if you know your going to win.

I agree, I don't see why people ask. Just race if you loose you loose thats it.
On a side note, Friday I roasted a 94+ gsr at the track with one of my 15.9 runs. The kid in the gsr ran a 16.4, I was shocked. Anythings possible.
a b17 isnt that much better then a b18, it has 160 horsepower and the b18 has 170 the reason why they made the b17 was becasuse the b16 was putting out **** for torque. Plus cai on high reving cars aren't that great either, i heard many things about cai for cars that redline at 8000. The cai is only good for like 7000 and after that its not as great. The only reason the 93 gsr's are faster is because its lighter. But just to tell you he will beat you, i have a close friends that have both a 93 gsr and a 95 gsr and i can take them off the launch but they pull on me so fast because of their high rev its not going to be that close of a race.
Ummm a friend of my brothers have a b17 GSR... he beat my brothers 91 SR5 corolla about two cars, and I take my brothers corolla about 5 cars.... and I'm not that heavily modded... maybe the driver just suck but I think everyone thinks too much of a GSR, One more thing, a friend of mine with a 2k DX Civic Hatch with 94 GSR motor only took a 98 EX Civic Coupe by the fender. Maybe all the GSR owners around my area just suck but who knows.

Yes, yes, you would smoke GSR's with that setup =) I say, race the kid anyway, whether you are gonna win or lose. Keep it safe, keep it fun, that's what it's all about. Win or lose, racing still gives you that great feeling

Lets face it, not many people are capable of racing, even if it is for only a quarter mile. I'm sure to some of these kids, it all seems rice and easy (pardon the pun), but if you can't launch, you can't beat anybody. How many people do you know that could pilot a top fuel dragster to a sub-5sec. quarter? You put a lil rice boy in there and he's more likely to pee himself than make a decent run. It's the driver that makes the car go down the track, not the other way around.
