I have yet to notice a REAL difference in deterioration time.

The longevity of your pads depends on your driving style, how hard you use them, and what kind of material they are.

Many pads have different temperatures in which they are more efficient. A higher performance pad may not fade as much at higher temperatures and provide less dust. Pads you get as oem replacements may fade very quickly and dust when they reach a certain temperature.

As I said before, it really depends on your driving style.

If you drive hard with a pad that is efficient at lower temperatures, then it won't last as long as a pad with a higher temperature efficiency.

I found only marginal longevity in the higher priced pads from places like autozone and advance, but high quality ones from top names do last longer, but I really don't think it's worth it for an aggressive driver. Maybe Granny will get 2-3 years from a set of pads, but I never will.Bottom line....................Buy quality for safety's sake, but don't spend a fortune on brake pads that you are going to replace in about 4-6 months.

Interesting. How many miles should pads last for normal driving?

Assuming by expensive he means better "performance" or softer brake pads, they last significantly less.

NOTE: I moved this to the correct sub-forum, please do not make double posts.
