Do all vh45 run ignitors?

I have a VH45 94 model I think as It has oval port heads and studs on rocker covers with rubber gasket, my question is will it work with out the ignitor modules as the motor is fitted to a nissan patrol with modified wiring harness around the coil packs. As far as I can see it goes from ECM to the coil packs via the original connectors and the motor runs but getting back fires under load on straight LPG gas.

Yeh , Ive looked at all the wiring diagrams and all say ignitors before coil so it looks like thats why ive got a miss fire and backfires. Didnt think it would run with out them, oh well got some on the way so hope it will fix it.
