Hi guys, i buy salvage cars and fix them and i recently bought a few versas that i need to fix in order to sale. They are very popular and for half their value people call me daily to buy them.
I have one basic question, all my versas are coming from different parts of the Country and im really stressing out about one thing. 2 of the versas are SL's and i was wondering, do all SL Versas that are automatic have the CVT transmission?
Thanks i know the question might be stupid but it would be awesome to know.
P.S. The cars are both sedans, both 2007's they have cruise control and other stuff.

When the car debuted for the 2007 model year the CVT was an option. From

http://www.edmunds.com/nissan/versa/2007/review.html

"Powertrains and Performance

The front-wheel-drive Versa comes with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine good for 122 hp and 127 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard. A four-speed automatic transmission is optional on the 1.8 S, and a CVT is optional for the 1.8 SL trim."

For the 2008 model year, this from

http://autos.aol.com/cars-Nissan-Versa-2008/overview/

"Both S trims as well as SL hatches come standard with a six-speed manual transmission. A four-speed automatic transmission is optional on the S, while an advanced Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) is standard on SL sedans, optional on SL hatches."

Whoops. I stand corrected. Is it now that they only come with CVTs? I thought I remembered starting on a specific model year they stopped doing stick with SLs.

No worries!
I wouldn't be surprised if the SL/stick combo has been "outlawed".
I think if you want a newer Sentra SE-R non-SpecV, you have to get CVT too. :frown:
A CVT in a Maxima sounds kinda neat, but annoys me in a Versa [even tho i haven't driven one ;) ]
Save the Stick!

I think that the new SL Versa's only come with CVT (at least from what I have read online and on other forums).

My brother's SE-R is CVT too ... he actually didn't want a manual transmission anymore. But it does have the manual mode with paddle shifters ! :)

Paddle shifters on a CVT? How does that work since a CVT doesn't really have "gears"?

That's why he switched over from driving a manual everyday to getting the CVT. He was driving Toronto bound all last year, and now he lives in Ottawa so he does that commute fairly often to visit back home. I drove mine for a year across the border, so that can be unpleasant at times!

If NB will be in avg condition, should fix er up with custom interior and paint!
Winter project or winter beater beetle?

NB will be manual turbo ... has to be an 03-06 as the turbo cabrio was only available in those years.
Being a cabrio, it will only be driven during the spring/summer. Versa will become the winter car, and travelling car ... :) I want one in mint condition ... no average or beater car for me. It has to be from someone as crazy about car care as me :D

Ok guys, i got one of the SL versas. I cant drive it yet till monday when i get the control arm that is broken. What are clear signs that i can see in the car if it does have the CVT transmission? I cant drive it so i wont know if it is shifting or not lol... Like inside the car, is there a difference between the CVT and automatic in the shifter? im hoping that it is a CVT bad...The car has, 6 cd changer, bluetooth, keyless ignition, alloy wheels, and the shift stick says PRNDL. Thanks for the help guys. i cant believe this car got totalled.... all i have to do is put in a control arm and very minor body work. No air bag deployment either. I m thinking of keeping this bad boy...

Update- Guys nevermind, this car does have the CVT transmission. I checked in the oil gauge and it says CVT fluid only... so thats self explanatory.
