Was going to have this unit installed by the dealer, but they informed me today that they cannot install into the units with the BOSE with auto A/C...

Is this correct???

If I'm not mistaken....They are incorrect. All you need is a Scosche line out converter (SCL-4 or FAI-3A).....see Doc's Tutorial on how to hook this up on a A/C with the Bose System. http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=294580

Now the DNX is a lil bit easier to hook up than the Avic like on the tutorial because you don't need to run a wire to the speed sensitive wire behind the dash for the navigation system. I'm purchased the 8120 system myself and am gonna be doin the install myself hopefully be the weeks end. If you have anymore questions regarding this install.....post a thread askin DOC for help. He may not respond as quick as u want him to (he has a busy schedule on his hands) but he does respond back to you and helps out where ever he can. DOC is The Man Here.

I appreciate the love Domdada...

as Domdada stated, it can definately be done... just get thew scosche line out converter (FAI-3 or SLC-4) and you'll be good to go. You can actually get these at wal-mart for ~ 19.99..

these will allow you to dial down the signal leaving your DNX-8120 going to the Bose Amp... this way, you can still get full range volume control.... if you don't use the line out converter... your music will be blasting at like volume 7 or 8 and will then begin to distort...

one guy on here had his aftermarket unit installed, but the installers told him he didn't need it, installed the unit without the line out converter.. then he had the volume problems i mentioned... so the guy had to take it back to them, and have it installed the way it should have been installed the first time.

SO, DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER... when you get the DNX-8120 installed, insist that they install the scosche SLC-4 or FAI-3 unit and dial down your volume CORRECTLY the first time.

I'm not yelling at you, I'm yelling at your dumb a$$ ignorant installers at the dealership!!!!

Also, one good thing about the DNX-8120, is that it has built in 15 band crossovers for the center, rear, front, and subwoofer... AND it has a built in Equalizer to fine tune your audio system. This is comparable to a JL audio clean sweep or a rockford fosgate 360.1 ... the reason I mention this is because the Bose headunit and amp and speakers work in unison, and the amp frequencies are set in terms of what signals it send to each speaker... installing aftermarket headunits with Bose amp and speakers and mess up this delicate balance, but your DNX-8120 can be fine tuned to work flawlessly again!

So congrats on a wondeful purchase and WELCOME 2 NICO....

Don't just pop your head in, stick around and learn more about your car from all the great guys on this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!

DOC,I am sure this is a total NOOB question, but if I buy all of the materials, can I take it to a shop to have them install it? and if so, what national chains would you avoid.

Thanks

Of course you can, but be sure to shop around at different shops.. asl to see pictures of work that they've done, etc.

I would go to a local audio shop over a cicuit city / best buy/ tweeter shop... in general, national chains are hit and miss regarding their installers
