Without having one at my finger tips, I wouldn't be able to figure this out. Hopefully Doc can chime in because I'm sure it's similar to his model. If not, I'll browse through the user's manual and see what I can find (probably at work tomorrow if I get some free time at lunch).

in the manual it says that the output needs to be set to subwoofer, and it is now set to rear. the option is grayed out and i cant change it. In the audio setup menu you can turn the subwoofer on and off. however this option is grayed out also. any ideas?

Ok, I'll browse through the manual sometime today and see what I can come up with. I'll let you know what I find...

ok, the 5120 only has 4 rca outs, as opposed to the 6 on the 8120

so you can only set the rear rcas to be used as a sub or as rear outputs to the other two channels on a 4 channel amp... there is a way to get around this however!

i don't recall your setup off hand... how many amps are you running?

if you are running two (a four channel for the interior speakers and a mono block for the sub) then this is what I would do

1. use the front RCA outs on the 5120 to two front channels on the 4 channel sub

2. get a high-low converter, and use the actual rear speaker wires leaving the 5120 deck, hook the high low converter up to that, and then run RCA's from your high low converter to the rear channels on the 4 channel amp

3. use the rear RCA's on the 5120 and hook those up to the rcas on the amp going to your subwoofer

**********------********

Hopefully thismakes sense, if not, just shooot me an email, and I'll give you my phone number and I'll walk you through it and we can discuss it in detail!

Good catch Doc. You da man! However, wouldn't it also be possible to run RCA preouts from one amp to the other? I know this will lose the functionality of some of the subwoofer controls, but it is another option. I think your method works better, but is slightly harder to wire up.

Either way, the subwoofer selection shouldn't be greyed out though, should it? There's no way for the HU to detect if it is connected to a multichannel amp for interior speakers or a mono amp for the sub. This still should be user selectable.

your setuop looks good... if you gave those speakers enough airspace, that T100001 is gonna pound the hell out of em!

regarding the menu screen vs dvd screen.. there are TWO different adjusments, you have to adjust the monitor picture while watching a dvd I believe...

i figured it out. when you hit function a button comes up on the screen called screen. thats what i was looking for. kenwood said that there was only one adjustment when i called them...lol.

anywho. now that we got most of the kinks out my problem is tuning stations. i have the blue wire on the antenna adapter hooked up to the power antenna wire on the head unit.

Can you tune anything? Or do you not get any stations at all? I know this will sound stupid, but the antenna plug is seated fully in the head unit, correct?

It is relatively simple. There is an adapter that the factory plug connects to. Then, the blue wire needs to be connected to the power wire lead. I would make sure all connections are plugged in fully. Then, try to make sure the connection for the power antenna lead is also in working order. If reviewing these connections doesn't fix the problem, let us know so we can try to work this out further.

Sorry, the blue wire on the antenna adapter is connected to the power antenna wire on the wiring harness (the harness that plugs directly into your head unit).

i tore it apart today and stuck a coat hanger in the antenna spot and it works. so i figured it was a harness problem. there are two small square connections on the factory harness. the aftermarket one only has one small square thing that is actually the antenna wire. i moved it to location two and it works great.

It could be. A coat hanger certainly should not out perform the actual antenna adapter.
