Hey guys, I will be painting my rims this friday. I was wondering what supplies/and what type( namebrand ) you all bought to paint your wheels. Do i need primer? I dont want them flat black but i dont want them to shiny..My wheels are the stock 1991 SE Wheels. I am painting them black. If you could help it would be great. And post pics if you want. always like to see pics of other peoples 240's. Please help thank you. Also here are some pictures of the stock wheels. ( im also new at posting pics so bear with me thanks )[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Wow, ever hear of google? It's a pretty neat website, give it a try. You'll be surprised what kind of information you can extract from it.

I would keep them in stock form... Perhaps just give them a good polishing.

No offense, but with the body damage your car has, painting the wheels will fully "beaterize" it.

That's purely my opinion, though. It's your car, do as you please with it.

Im still working on the body that one spot in the back is the worst i orderd a new fender extender on the front bumper. I will work on the body and it will be done soon hopefully..here is a pic of the dent before i fixed it. This was actually right before i started working on it.[IMG][/IMG]

Actually no...Used a hair dryer to heat the metal ( pointless lol ) then got the car jack out and stuck it back there and just used that...ill be working on it alittle more this weekend. Unfortinatly i think i may hold off on painting my rims and just finish some needed body work.

With the money your gonna spend on painting rims is gonna be pointless, just save up for some sportmaxx or meshies. Rims are cheap these days at least out here in cali.

OP: do what ^^^ did to his se wheels. save the money you would've spent on painting to put towards new wheels/tires or coils.

Clean them up nice and be done with it. Not worth the hassle.

The silver look is the best looking on those wheels anyways.

those wheels are nice as it is just clean 'em out. painting any OEM wheel is ugly.

well since these people arent actually giving advice..ill helpthose blue rims look super sick tho! probably expensive for DIYersi just painted mine green this weekend..i used steel wool, paperbags/newpapers, tape, plastic grocery bagsand if the climate is cold/damp dont do it loli had a heater in a storage unit..steel wooled the wheels really goodcleaned them off then taped off my wheel well/tirei didnt tape off my entire tire which was a mistake..but lesson learned haand the plastic bags are for putting behind the wheel to cover the rotorsin the case that you are too lazy to take the wheels off the cardont be ina hurry and do many thin coatsi just picked up some emerald green krylon from walmart and went to town so have fun and just make sure you dont forget to cover nething up lol

any other colour other than silver looks horrendous. buy some stripper to get rid of the clear coat and then sand aluminum smooth with a power sander. it will take forever if u do it manually. and then clearcoat it. if not smooth , it will collect dirt.

if the original clearcoat is in good shape, i would not touch it.
