Ok remember I come from the world of 240SXs where everything is hacked together from whatever parts you find..

Here's what I would like to do.

G35 Single turbo system with a power goal of 300whp.

Under $1000

I know I can do it, the thing is where can I find a Turbo Manifold for cheap?

Upto what HP are the stock injectors good for?

Upto what HP is the stock fuel pump good to?

What type of engine management? SAFC II ??

You should be able to get 300rwhp no problem with a single turbo. I just installed the turbonetics kit and before a full tune i made 328 at the rear wheels. The problem will be injectors, Fuel pump and ECU. Stock injectors will need to be changed to deliver enough fuel under boost. Also the fuel pump will need to be upgraded but thats not a big deal. I can post instructions for the Walbro. As for ECU depending on the year you have a few options. Utec that i have is about $1000 plus wideband $600 Map sensor $130. Dont try and short cut on too much regarding fuel delivery with a FI system. You will run the risk of running lean under boost and KABLOOEY!!

I know how to boost.. my 240SX has a Sr20det that I built myself..

where can I buy the turbo manifold??

Also the stock injectors/pump cant even support 300WHP?? that's weird they usually don't push it that close to the limit with OEM parts

Im sure you can get the Pipeing through turbonetics. Its not as easy as just a manifold there are a bunch of cross pipes. you will also need to change an AC line that runs too close to the down pipe and the snail. You would probably be able to get away with stock fuel components as long as you really didnt push it on HP and watch your A/F. But why stop at 300whp when you can make 350+ pretty easy. No matter what you will have to reflash or get an ECU with a map sensor since stock ECU will not know what to do with fueling after 4700 RPM and it sounds terrible when you get it there.

I guess there are no options for cheap manifolds like with the 240SX ehh?? it makes me sick to think of how much they charge for a turbo kit for the G35! For example, a turbo (new) will only run you $400-500 A manifold *should* be in the $300 range. Intercooler (Front mount plus pipes and couplers) $350Oil lines, water lines etc.. $200HKS SSQ BOV $200

Then whatever management system you use..

You should be able to piece together a basic turbo system for under $2000

Now if it's actually possible I don't know.. It seems there is no one selling individual parts of a turbo kit for our cars. And for that reason they charge 6 - 7K for a kit.

Why would you have to relocate the AC?? why can't you just have your *Single* turbo mounted on the passenger side?

+1 on the $2000 dollar cost of materials. Tuning will cost you more. I've been watching a thread in a competing forum that is doing exactly this...

Having every thing fit together right the first time has some value.

I'm assuming you mean exhaust manifold? Have you talked to any exhaust shops yet? You should be able to find one that will make whatever you want.

I had a buddy....well I knew I guy, that had a nice "special" DIY turbo setup. He got his snail from a turbodiesel semi! LOL!!! and custom fab'd his header to bend up skyward and the turbo basically sat on top of the hood where he cut a hole for it. Basically there wasn't enough room cause this was done to a del-sol. Or maybe he didn't want to clear out the bay, who knows. All I know is....it was special as hell and I couldn't help but laugh every time I saw it.

I raced a Acura RSX this weekend with a DIY turbo and no hood looked like same problem. The turbo was WAY too big for the little 4 banger. He ran a 14.732 @ 111.333 to my 14.254 @99.959 can you say turbo lag??

Next race he lauched at what sounded like 4000 + RPM and broke the passenger side half shaft off in the transmission. The slick he left behind closed the track for about 40 min and further depended my hatred of everything HONDA!

I should have snapped a picture of the thing but I'm sure it will be at the track again breaking something next time I'm there.

Launched at 4k+ RPMs and boosting? wow...I could definitely see how that would break a stock shaft..maybe not the first time, but eventually. Sounds like he was at least hookin up pretty good and not just spinnin.....it sounds like he needs to find a happy medium tho...and upgrade to some forged parts
