I am about to do a drop pan transmission service on my J30, including a filter change and would like to know if I let it drain long enough with the pan off if all of the fluids in the torque converter will drain out, and what quantities could I expect to get out?

I am going to replace the fluid with Mobil1 ATF, is there any problem if two different types of fluid mixes?

Thanks

The usual amount of a pan drain is about 3 quarts out of 10. But we only let it drain 10-15 minutes.........so unsure what amout might drain out in a week. The term flush is sometimes confused because the flush part is the chemical cleaner whose circulation for 15 minutes removes the varnish [into solution]. When you mix oils you never know if there can be compatability issues with additives...........usually not, but without chemical analysis you never know for sure.

Even a machine exchange uses an extra 4-5 quarts to try to minimize the cross contamination.

That said I have used a combo of Toyota T4 synthetic and Mobil 1 synthetic. Even used [a couple of quarts of] conventional to stretch a limited quanity of Mobil 1 .........but I know which way the fluid comes from the machine...................last in first out more or less - but there is some mixing.

Lubeguard Red or some small amount of Black is a very good additive with any ATF brand.
