DIY Tonneau covers -- $15.00 and 0ne hour

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi,

My EX 2010 did not include the T-Cover, so, I decided to make one (O/W too expensive to buy from the aftermarket..over $200.00)..Well..what would be the goal? Hide items in your cargo ..Right...

Items needed...
(1) Replacement Carpet - $8.00 Wal-Mart Car section..In a roll 36" X 72" in many different colors..I got the gray one.
(1) Plastic pipe (1/2 inch), 50 inch
(1) 1/4 inch plastic pipe or wood , 50 inch

Steps...
1. Put the carpet at cargo area and mark & cut lines by tracing the contour shape of the T-cover holder area. The end side toward to the rear seat is 48.5 inch.
2. You need to ask your wife to do sewing or do it yourself. a. 1 inch gap at the end of the carpet where it will connect to the main T-cover slot. and 1/2 gap for the 2nd holder... Design your own taste...It is easy...about 20-30 min works
3. place the cover...

Open back door and T-cover

Fold down for putting large items..

Just pull and insert 2nd supporting bar to cover the cargo

Main hinge & T-cover area...Clean installation..

That's pretty cool.

You mean "sewing" instead of "sawing", correct?

Wish I was crafty enough to do this.. How much if you made me one lol? Parts + Labor + Shipping + Convenience fee = Still a lot cheaper than the dealership. I would definitely buy yours since I have the same interior/exterior from what I see.

Hi, Zarar

My first one is just for the fun and for my use, not the quality to sell..However, I will design a new one when I have time (lessons learn from the first one), I will let you know...

Regarding for the first one, it was very useful to cover the items on the cargo area & made shade too...

Thanks,

I'm not going to knock this idea... cause I can see that a lot of thought went into this... and some work, too.

What I am going to knock is, Infinti for being so cheap and not including this Cover with every 2010 EX35.

Infiniti is a higher end Line... and for people to have to do this to make up for their Car's short-comings, I think it's really sad.

Is it worth $200.00 ? http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/pts/1780351027.html
