Hello! I know this is a pretty old thread, but I have been thinking about getting one of these for my Z. Just a couple of quick questions for the OP. I read that you live in Florida, and i was wondering if your shift knob gets really hot when it sits out in the sun. I live in Texas and that is a major concern for me! Second, how does it compare to the OEM shift knob? Is it heavier, easier to hold, etc.

Thanks in advance!

^ Yes, it gets very hot. All the heat gets gets transferred to the core so it takes a bit of time before the knob cools down, some advice would be to cover the shifter with a hat or a book or something so it doesnt have direct contact with the suns rays. The shifts feel more 'crisper' as you run into each gate i guess, it feels more direct.

proptip: just go ahead and dish out for the nismo titanium knob. Its finish stays cleaner longer and instead of 'frying your hand' temperatures it just stays warm

Alright. Ive also seen a chrome one and a carbon fiber wrap one. From the looks of the picture, the carbon fiber looks like it has some sort of covering or something around it so it may not get as hot? (link below). but you do like it? You didnt feel like you were wasting money or anything? Is it better to hold in your hand than the OEM? Sorry for all of the questions, im just one of those people who has to know EVERYTHING about a product before they buy it. Thank you for answering!

Yeah it sucks, thats how i got it. I might just get yet another overlay to cover it up or by another console if I could find one.

I don't worry too much about it, i'll eventually end up with a nismo Z hopefully in the not too distant future.
