High alternator voltage got you down? I might have a fix.

So I've found mixed information as to which cross reference regulator will fit, after trying a few, I think I found one that is a close enough.

Of course this is an S14 Mistsubishi SR alternator, so not the same as an S13 alt... Anyway, the Transpo part number is IM350, it's a part normally for a Subaru application.

It matches up nearly 100% with the pictures I took of my alternator from the last time I had it apart, with the exception for an additional capacitor (which might help reduce alt noise).

I will know for sure if it will work either tomorrow, or this weekend for sure... I have to drive the car still.

Well that was a disappointment... The regulator is a perfect replacement, even though I had to remove a little plastic on the diode array for the additional capacitor... But I didn't get any output from the alternator.

I tried bypassing the capacitor, same result.

The thing is, while bench testing the regulator, I didn't get any expected outputs that I got with the old regulator (which doesn't excite until 2000RPM and outputs 15.0 volts)... So maybe the regulator I got is bad? I'm not sure.

Back on the hunt I guess.

I'll probably just replace it with a Quest alt, it's cheaper anyway. lol
